February 2006. This Independent Public Not-For-Profit Elementary School is located one block east of Florida
Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
Boca Raton Charter School's Academic Focus:
The school's academic focus is the Primary Years Program of Inquiry. The teachers attended
the Level 1 training provided by the Texas I.B. Schools in July 2006 and began planning and implementation
of the Primary Years Program in August. Students
attending our school receive course offerings in reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, computer
science and foreign language (Spanish). In
addition to the core content areas, K-5 students receive instruction in Computer, Life Science and Aero Space education by certified
science and computer science teachers in our new Lab. BRCS in partnerhsip with Gumbo Limbo Nature Center are planning the enfusion
of environmental sciences and hands- on activities into our daily curriculum. These enriching science programs are
preparing our 5th graders for the Science FCAT and building a foundation in science for grades K- 4. The concept of a neighborhood school with a small environment offering
unique learning opportunities to young children in a non-tuition public school appeals to local residents. Boca
Raton Charter School is the only public school in Boca Raton currently offering this type of curriculum. As
a Charter School, the school is free to develop innovative curriculum to naturally address the needs of our
student population.
